Switched because of fees

 I moved apartments and set up with ambit at my new apartment. I was told my recurring payments were going to continue but they didnt and after no bill pay they shut my power off. Not a big deal, but when I went to have it turned back on they charge: $40 reconnect fee, $20 disconnect fee, and made me add a $125 deposit. I explained the situation and that I had never missed a payment and it was a mistake but that meant nothing and they still demanded payment of all. I threatened to switch service and they just warned there would be $199 early termination fee to which I agreed and paid because I refuse to give a company like that my business. Highly recommend green mountain.

Stay Away!!!!!

 I was an faithful member for almost a year. Unfortunately this company is all about the money and not willing to assist for being 1 day late. I have never been late not once in almost a year, and because I forgot to make a payment, a day later my electricity was shut off. Very unethical thing to do!! I have a child at home with my wife and Ambit should try and contact their customers before shutting off service. I called right away and apologized for being late and explained that if they see my history with them I had never been late once. They simply reffused and stated there is nothing they could do for me. I owed them $58.64. They wanted to charged me a $15 late charge fee, $40 reconnecting fee, and $140 deposit. Total amount $253.63 for being a day late. Absolutely unthethical on any standard of business. Basically their response was there is nothing we can do for you either pay or you won't get your electricity turned back on. I have cancelled my contract with Ambit and NEVER will I return or refer other people to this self serving company that does not care about an individuals situation. I will be paying a little more now; however, I rather pay more than deal with such Ambit Energy!!!!!

Horrible think twice

 At first as usual everything was pretty ok but here we are almost three yrs later and they messed up and bigggggggg. So we moved for the third time and first they have us a weird excuse as to why we had to open a new account instead of transferring that was a yr ago. Last week we get a letter stating that if we do not pay the last bill of our old address (let's remember I moved a yr ago) it will be disconnected the bill was over 100 dollars . We were given the run around stating they tried to contact us. We asked were and they said at your old address Whattttt when we asked for our total all together it was over 200 dollars we have never had a bill over 100 it is just two of us in a loft . I am so disappointed and will be paying the cancellation fee and we will be going else where . This is the classiest way of stealing money I have ever seen.

It should not matter if someone didn't pay there bill on time or not, the customer service should be professional and courteous. I just cannot in good faith ask my friends and even strangers to sign on with soooooooooo Many customer service complaints.  I have called Ambit Energy Customer service numerous times, and every time it has been the same thing. "Ummmm, do you mind holding while I get a supervisor?" Really??? Why can't anyone answer my questions? My power was shut off no due to the fact that I did not make a payment but because there automated payment system was telling me they could not complete the transaction at this time. And of course office was already closed. I renewed my contract after 6 months. 2 days letter my power was shut off again and they cancelled my contract and started charging 17.4 cents KWH variable instead of the 9.4 fixed. Who in there right mind is going to stay with a company that is going to charge that? NOT ME.

THEY ADVERTISE AN AVERAGE OF 12 CENTS PER KWH WHEN IN TRUTH IT IS 16 CENTS AND THERE IS STILL THAT PESKY ONCOR CHARGE WHICH GETS BIGGER THE MORE YOU USE ELECTRICITY. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE SO DECEPTIVE WITH THEIR PRICING AND HARD TO READ GRAPHS OF ENERGY USAGE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A PLAN LIKE THAT IT SHOULD BE EASY TO READ TO COMPARE SAVINGS SO YOU CAN CHOOSE HONESTLY AND WISELY. New oncor charges every on bill

 I've been a customer of Ambit Energy for a year now. I've never been late on a payment nor had my service disconnected. I'm enrolled in a fixed rate term plan. It surprises me that on every bill there is increased charges. My kWh used stays about the same but the other numerous charges just always increase. Ambit claims Oncor increases their transmission line charges that Ambit is charged, so Ambit relays that charge to the Ambit customer. When I've called customer service, I got the vibe that the representatives have been employed with Ambit for a couple of weeks. The Reps have either told me they dont know the answer to my question OR take out their frustration for not knowing the answer on me and become unprofessional. The rewards points program is a publicity stunt to hook consumers into signing up with Ambit. Grand Incentives Reps are encouraged to not allow the Ambit customer to cash in on the reward points. I'll be testing a different energy provider in a few months, and I really hope the new company I pick isn't similar to Ambit.

 I've been an Ambit cuatomer for the past 2 yrs. and have had no problems. My bills have been consistantly lower than with my previous provider, Liberty Energy. They offered a decent rate, then slammed me with a $60, 70, $80 distribution charge each month. We love Ambit's web site. After reading many negative reviews about Ambit, My advice to those who can't or won't pay their bills on time, is to arrange for an automatic payment plan and stop blaming others for your own short comings.

 Every one of the negative statements I've read.....sadly is true/ I was shocked when I started reading and found I was having the same issues! The cust. service is terrible and Pray you don't get a supervisor esp. one named Michelle....she wouldn't disclose her last name either so I could speak to her boss or report her attitude. I can go on & on with situations but the main one is the fact I saw so many saying they do not notify you of contract cancellations. I did NOT receive ANYthing in the mail nor did I get any calls which they said they did. I asked for dates and why I did not get a VM...their notes were it just rang??? It's a cell #.....it goes to VM so how does it just ring????? and all 3 times?? cmon!

Basically I was told deal with it! that I should have wote down the contract end date. Now I am stuck with a $289. bill I get the deal with contracts but no notification or help?? Worst serfice ever and the bill is the most complicated to understand... They have it figured out how to screw you because what else can you do once its so high ....you have to pay it!

 Every working couple with kids get extremely busy so we overlooked and forgot to pay bill on time. We got disconnected. So after our service was restored our rate changed from 8 to 17 which is ridiculously high. When I called they said they switched us to the standard plan. So I asked so how much is the cancellation fee if I want to switch, he told me amount which I don't recall. In January I got my bill for december and oh my god it was almost $500 for a mobile home! So I called back to ask how long left on my term & she stated I was on a month to month. Omg! So that other guy lied or didn't knw what he was talking about. I am now shopping around for a better company that will not switch u to a higher rate bc of a disconnection

Awful! I am so disheartened

 I am going through a very hard time financially. My church wrote a check to pay for my electric bill for current month. Unfortunately, there is no where in San Angelo where you can drop off a check payment and if I mail the payment it will not make it to their facility before the disconnect date. I called to ask where to drop off the payment (no where) and then asked for an extension so they payment would have time to make it there. They would not give me any extension unless I called my church and asked them to call and pledge that they were paying it - only after that would they extend it. I asked to speak to a supervisor with the same help. All this company did was take an already humiliating situationa and make it worse. Even though I am saving money with Ambit, I will definitely be changing as soon as my contract is over due to the lack of customer service. Very polite but the least helpful people I have ever dealth with.

The worst I have ever had to deal with

 I have lived in CT where the only option for electricity is CL&P, notorious for their terrible customer service and I can say that Ambit is far worse, the customer service reps are extremely rude and unless you follow their script you cannot get anything done because the customer service reps lack the common sense to follow what you are saying. I will never use this company again.

 They sound wonderful at first promising you the moon, but once you sign they are HORRIBLE! I live in a small 1500 sq ft house and my bill has been over $400/month for the past 4 months! This month I'm paying $439.70...and thank goodness this is the last payment I will ever give them. Contract is up and I'm switching to TXU Energy. They are also rude and uncaring after you join. Don't do it!

 I have been with Ambit for a year and today was my last day. Last month I received a bill for $243.53, $60 higher than any previous bill. Looking at my usage I saw 1302, a decrease from the previous month but still a much higher bill. I immediately called to see what the issue was. Not only was the customer service rep extremely unhelpful, she actually hung up on me when she couldn't answer my question. I did not get a call back or an explanation for this bill. This month the exact same billing issue occured again. I called and was told that I was contacted 3 times by phone saying that my term was about to expire and therefore my average rate went up to 17.2 cents. I never received a phone call or voice mail about this. I'm still thinking this is a correctable issue at this time. As a customer with excellent payment history and good credit I asked if they could adjust my bill to the previous rate of 9.5 cents for the last month and I'll re-up my term for another year. I was told absolutely not. After some questioning I asked the rep if they really expected me to re-up for another year when I'm being charged double just because they can. Her answer- "yes". I wish I had recorded that conversation so people would could hear how blatant they steal your money and then expect you to stay. I switched to "Just Energy" today for a lower rate and easy set-up. DO NOT use Ambit.

Great Service

 I have been a customer for 2 years now and they have been great. Their free electricty is great they give me a $125.00 to $150.00 credit every month. What a great deal it is. The free trip rewards are great my wife and i are going on a cruise soon paid for by Ambit just for being a customer. The free web site is nice they even give me tips on how to save energy.

Absolute worst company I have ever dealt with

 This is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. They don't send your bills on time (or at all) so when you go to pay them they are already late and then they get to shut off your power and charge you hundreds of dollars to get you power back on. If you have two disconnects they then double your rates and you end up with an outrageous bill.

I always pay my bills on time and haven't ever had a problem with any company. These people are absolute crooks.

PUC whip

 Recently my Ambit account was hijacked by Entrust Energy. Ambit sent out a second bill which included 600 extra kilowatts I'd used and a $199 early termination fee... understandable. After contacting Ambit I was surprised to find out this situation is quite common. I had paid my bill before realizing it was a new bill so I asked when I would get the $199 fee back; they said it would be applied to future invoices. Now unlike some, I pay my Ambit bill early... I also round the bill up to the nearest dollar, and I've been a loyal customer for over 7 years (almost 7000 useless travel points,) how do they say thanks, by keeping 1.5 months worth of payments. As I was speaking with the Texas PUC about the account hijacking I mentioned Ambits policy of keeping the "spoils" of my situations and applying them to "possible future invoices" and the PUC said "we'll look into this." This morning about 9am I get a call from Ambit wishing to address my PUC complaint and guess what... suddenly I CAN get my $199 fee back as a check, not a credit. In closing, don't get angry; call the PUC. If you don't have a leg to stand on with the PUC, you shouldn't be complaining.

 I had Ambit at home and we have it for a family owned business. ONE HUGE DISAPOINTMENT! A month ago I missed payment andthey cut it off. I had called a few days before to see about renewing my contract and they said nothing about disconnection. I get disconnected and they tell me that it will not be connected unless I pay off what I owed which I did , but refused to pay a $52 connection fee. Today at the small family business I work for, the electrician doing a small installation in the warehouse said that there was no voltage on one off our faces. We called centerpoint energy and they let us know we were up for disconnection after paying our bill and another deposit of $600 dollars paying a total of $1034. They representative had said that I was paying two months and the deposit! Today I am told the deposit was not $600 but should have been $680! Why am I getting different quotes a week later? I went ahead and told them to leave my lights off at home, that I would find another company! The bad thing about the company account is that I've already made a $680 deposit and was short on the payment that i made of $1034 because I was told the deposit was $600! UNFORTUNATELY i CANNOT HAVE THEM CUT THE BUSINESS ELECTRICITY OFF OR i WOULD DO THE SAME THING i DID FOR MY HOME! This is the WORSE light company I have dealt with! I asked when is my contract over and they said another year! We've forked out way to much money to just have them do this to us!

 I use the Ambit prepaid service that they offer. I made a payment tues. which said i had 18.7 days of electric. And now its only thursday, and all of a sudden my electric was disconnected. I still dont understand how i went from 18 days to a negative balance in one day. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone!!!

 Ambit rates are currently high but if there rate are among the 5 lowest I would select them. There website and billing system works fine. They do not have any tolerance if you a few days late. 90% of the bill can be paid on time and they will hit you with fees and send disconnect notice for nominal amounts outstanding, regardless of how long you have been with the company. There vacation/trip plans are rip offs. So do not use that as a factor when signing on. I've waited 9 weeks for a coupon and I had to call them 3 times just to get it that fast. They were friendly but 2 of the reps was not able to provide results. When I received the coupon, I then had to send it to another company and had to wait again to find out they would not book me to fly into a airport I wanted to travel. It was a small but international airport. They said it was too small so I must drive 3 hours from the next closest airport. There are fees and price ranges involved travel/vacation plan which make it a rip off.

 I have been very regular with my payments even when I was layed off from my job. This summer was very hot and received huge increase in my normal billing but still have been pretty regular. I am having some unplanned medical expenses for Sept & Oct and have not been able to pay timely. THey are unwilling to work with me to extend any further time to pay my October billing not even 1 week thru OCt 28th. I think this is very poor when companies don't work with you to receive payment.

Beware of AMBIT billing practices.

 If you miss a month's payment, the unpaid balance will not appear in subsequent bills until after your power has been disconnected and you get charged a hefty re-connection fee, security deposit, and your introductory rate is replaced with the AMBIT "standard" rate. I missed my June payment, but when the outstanding balance did not appear in my July or August electric bills, I erroneously assumed that it had been paid. My error cost me several hundred dollars. I also lost my introductory rate. I had reservations about signing up with AMBIT because of on-line reviews I had read, but I did it as a favor to my neighbor. Fortunately, I only have two months before my contract is up and I can switch electricity providers without further penalties. I was wrong in missing my June payment, but I think that AMBIT's practice of not rolling over outstanding balances is dishonest. They make it very easy to default. Buyer beware!

Don't sign up if you EVER have to pay late!!

 We have been with Ambit for a year and a half now. We are also on the
LITE-UP program because my husband lost his job recently. All of a
sudden, when we have fully paid every other bill, they say we will be
disconnected if this bill isn't paid within 13 days after the due date.

I called to set up payment arrangements for the first time in a year and
a half... their idea of "helping me out" is to expect 60% down with 40%
due in 10 days and a $20 FEE ADDED ON TOP OF IT! Now we are in the
middle of July in TX and they are going to cut my electricity off if I'm 13
days late or if I don't do their "ONLY PLAN AVAILABLE." It's highway
robbery, especially when they know we are struggling because we
qualified for the LITE-UP program.

If you are sure you will ALWAYS be able to pay your bill on time, then
Ambit is a great deal with great prices! But if you ever get in a bind,
don't expect them to help you out!

 i will not recommend this energy company to anyone else. i called them to shop around for a cheaper service plan and was give wrong information. i was told that my service with them would be changed over after my contract with relaint company ended on 4/6/11 and not before. i also told them to make sure, it was not done sooner, now thanks to them i have to pay a 150.00 contract cancellation fee, that was due to their wrong doing. i will not recommend them to anyone. they are wrong to mislead me and others in this matter

 I'm extremely satisfied with my monthly bill, but, as i received my bills, i paid them "promptly" but, with my prompt payment i immediately received a "disconnect notice?" Then trying to get someone on customer service was like pulling teeth? Took 20 minutes? Explained to them that i paid my bill promptly and why the disconnect notice? Customer service looked over my bill and said, well, there my bill was paid in full? Said they would check that out? Yeah, got two more just like that? I dug into my trash and found the post marked envelope from "them&" was mailed to me (from them) on Feb. 08, 2011 and i received the bill between the 9th and 12th...and paid bill promptly on the 14th of Feb....Billing period ended Jan 20th so that took them about 18 days to bill me?? Billing department must have monkeys doing the work to save costs? I have the agent that sold me on this company checking this crap out!

 I had ambit switch the power out of my ex wifes name and into mine. They sent an activation notice to the power company then a cancellation for hers so I had power for 2 days now no power and it is still 90 outaide at 10:00. Started calling them at 10 am they said it would be on shortly now 12 hours later and 2 phone calls later sitting on hold for 30 min on each call they tell me hopefully it will be on tomorrow. They said it is hard to send a second energy request. I dont care how hard it is do it fix your mistake. Now pay for my spoiled food in my refridgerator. They act like they care but dont believe it.

Poor service

 I had the worst set up experience with this company. They could not coordinate among their national phone reps, the local rep, and our local electric supplier. They threatened that I could be without power all weekend even though I had paid additional money to have a particular set up date. This required me to call back and forth all day long to check on the work order status that never seemed to get entered. Other than my local rep, I always spoke to someone new and had to tell my story all over again each time. My rep tried to help, but he was limited by Ambit on how much he could do to get my power turned on. I should have run away screaming at the beginning. As it was, they did eventually work out the details and our local supplier turned on the electric late into the evening. I had a while without problem from them and I like the lower rates and cost each month, but a few months ago a problem occurred. I paid my bill on time, they received it before it was due, but they held it past the due date, then their bank rejected the payment. Instead of dealing with their bank to resolve the problem, they just expected me to absorb the fees due to the rejection of my payment. Now that is poor customer service, especially after an extraordinarily long hold time! I have never had a good experience reaching them by phone. I will be moving to another provider as soon as I find a good plan.

What they do is legal...but it is deceptive...

 Ambit requires 1 year contracts, at least they did for residents of my community. I pay my bills online, but Ambit's website is down regularly after 10pm or so....maybe earlier, but that is when I finish my day and sit down and work on bills and stuff. This led to late payments, waiting for the next time the site was up. So I set up auto pay, but then my bill goes up. And then a payment fails, but I am not notified until my service is cut. Sometimes I work from home, so this is not acceptable. I am planning to move, but now that they have required a deposit, and for me to re-start a 1 year contact because of the shut off, I will lose the deposit when I move. All of this is legal. You can get bills and notices mailed, but they won't get to you in time, so paying online is still better. But keep an eye on the rate and rate changes and don't set up autopay. Better yet...don't waste your time and money on this outfit. Look at their reviews. They are profitable because of with held deposits, fees, and energy rates that change or are to their best interest, not yours.

Highly Disappointed

 I signed with Ambit Energy to help a friend that was a consultant. The promise of travel rewards was a nice perk and the rates were average. I encountered a billing error on one of the months; we normally pay $70 month for our apartment, but it jumped to $250 and I immediately contacted support. First of all, they are hard to get a hold of with customer care hours ending at 6pm on weekdays CST. That means having to take time off of work to be put on hold to attempt to speak with someone. When I do get to speak with someone, they want to blame the customer first...I got responses like are you sure you turned off your A/C...Our avg bill for the past 6-7months was $70 and it spike to $250....I was finally passed through to someone that assured me that they would send someone out to read my meter to fix. They do get one light bulb for ultimately resolving the issue, but it was a terrible experience. Oh, did I mention the travel rewards were not worth it. You get 1 pt for 1 kwH, trips cost 25k to 45k pts and had lots of stipulations and limited dates (down season).

Needless to say, I left Ambit as soon as my contract expired.

 Let me tell you about my experiences here with ambit energy . I moved in to my small 2 bedroom apartment back in October .. I paid for my deposit before I moved in and had it set up to where I had electricity the day I got my keys . Anyways . First month goes by and I was only charged for half a month since I moved in on Oct 13th. That month my bill was $33. Now this is where it gets interesting . Remember Im in a small apartment . No TV (up until last month anyways) . No microwave . No computers or any of the such. Just a plain Jane apartment . The next month my bill shot up to $450 . This was due right before Christmas , resulting in me not being able to get my son a single gift. I put that on differed payments since being a single mom and having several other bills ... I didnt have an extra $450 to toss to ambit . Cool. The next month my bill shot up again, this time to $540 .. okay so something clearly is wrong . I called and spoke with ambit and their corporate just for them to tell me that my meter test came back fine and theres nothing they can do. The last bill I got (my current ) is now at $465 due on valentines . I have called multiple times , spoke to multiple people , spoke with their partnering company about my meter , spoke with several media personal.. you name it. But they have my name on a switch hold so Im screwed . Basically . Watch your meter for yourself and always double check and get a second opinion. I had a third party tell me something is wrong with my meter and had my ac/heater checked and still ambit refuses to recognize the issue . Just be aware of the type of situation you could get stuck into.

I spoke with the customer service rep and she stated that SOMEHOW they disconnected my lights in error and they made me wait 2-4 HOURS for reconnect service that THEY messed up on please save yourself the hassle and do not go to this unprofessional shade tree light company... Sneaky hidden fees and faulty website

 I tried to make a payment online but I had to log in, I tried entering my account number and EVERY time, the site stated that my account number was invalid. Then I tried calling in to make a payment. The recording says there will be a $2.50 "one time" fee for using a card. I entered all the information needed and entered the amount and then everything froze up and nothing was working at all. So I called in and spoke to Candace, a representative, to make a payment. She enters my information and tells me that there will be a $5.00 fee for using the card. I immediately ask why is it now $5.00 when I was made aware three times via automated recording that it will be $2.50. That upset me, so I had enough and asked to disconnect by the end of the month, and that I am putting a stop to this BS and going back to Reliant Energy.

 If you call them to fix an issue or to get a standard discount, they will say you have pay the full amount first in order to get the discout and they charge $5 extra to process the payment. In order to get a few cents doscount you will end up paying mote money. And the communication between two representatives will have two different information and you will emd up with a headache and a hold on the line for hours.
Very bad customer service. Specially, if you have a iphone, you don't have access to mobile app or to their online acct.

I went through a some hard time and had to have an extension on my account, customer service was very poor about explaining the process, and making sure that I knew the steps in order for my extension to be completed. In result my service was disconnected and I was charged after 4 years??? I was charged an extremely ridiculous amount deposit fee???? Really??? after 4 years of being with the company???? Customer service was not genuine, they were cold-hearted and all about getting their money!  I was out of town for 2 weeks I get back and see a disconnection notice so I called ambit to see where I can make payment so they get it quickly the representative tells me several pay location where I can make my payments I go make my payment and call ambit back and tell them I have made my payment and the representative tell me your payments has not posted. I provided a confirmation number and representative say confirmation does not make a difference if we do not get your payment your services will be disconnected. I explain to the representative that I have a new born and can not be without light the manger stated there is nothing they can do . So I had to make another payments, So I pretty much have a 200.00 credit on my account. THIS IS RIDICULOUS YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET A SYSTEM THAT WORKS AND STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF BY HAVING CREDITS CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS . AND YOUR MANAGEMENT CUSTOMER SERVICES SUCK !!!!!!!  I missed my payment by a couple of days and charged me 7 times the amount of my bill just to restore service. Bill was approximately 32 bucks and charged me upwards of 200 just to restore my service. Customer support supervisor was super rude and said that I could cancel and pay them 200 dollars for early termination of contract. I literally just paid 5 months of electricity for a on time late fee. Oh and since they don't own my meter I have to pay the other company that own meter a fee too.
Typical companies that nickel and dime you until the end.

 I have joined Ambit Energy for 2 years now and I have no problems. knock on wood! The renewal rate is competitive to other company and the customer service was great when I called in. I love the points that I can use to travel and book hotel. I am saving up my points to take a trip to Cancun. How many company out there can offer you that for using their energy. I have this great consultant that answer all my questions and concerns. I have referred 10 customers already. 5 more customers and I will get free energy. This is a great company.

Frustrated!

 Everything was going along fine until I was a victim of credit card fraud. I had to get a new credit card and I took the time to notify all those that were on auto pay. My next bill came on my credit card just fine. But the following bill I got a cut-off notice. When I called to find out they are trying to say that my new Credit Card number was used for a one time only payment and not put me on auto-pay again. So now I have the choice to pay online monthly and have to pay $2.50 each month, or pay $700 for two bills to get back on auto-pay. I offered to make my monthly payment plus $50 to widdle away at the second month bill, I can do that but I won't be on auto-pay until it is a zero balance. Plus I will have to pay the $2.50 monthly fee. All this because I was the victim of credit card theft. You would think they could look at your previous history and make some exceptions for this. Speaking to a manager did not change a thing! Counting my days to cancel this service!

 Rates kept going up year after year, while payment via online using a credit card is charged "$2.50 - Electronic processing fee"

With all of the power transmission fees and usage fees, this is a pretty good deal for Ambit.

Kind of like how asian business only accept cash, no fees.

Just Say NO!!!!

 This is without a doubt the WORST company for "customer service." I have just been on hold for 40 minutes in their "Customer Care" 800 number hell. I paid my October bill, on time, in November. I kept getting dunning letters which I ignored because I had paid my bill as always, using my bank's direct transfer service. After getting a letter threatening to cut off my power, I called them to see what the problem was, as the amount had been debited from my bank account on the payment date, but apparently never made it to my Ambit account. I have sent them everything they have asked for to prove the payment, it is now two months later, Ambit still "can't find" the money, and they again are threatening to cut off my power over my "past due" October bill (the succeeding November and December bills have been paid). So so so so very frustrating!!!!!!

NOT MY PROBLEM CUT OFF THE LIGHT!

 I have had Ambit energy for about 3 years now. Signing up with no credit for my first apartment was not a bad experience at all. From my first apartment to a house and a baby on the way Ambit has been my electricity provider through it. I knew times were going to be tough when I would take my unpaid maternity leave and having no health insurance for the baby as well. For the month of January my electric bill was over $300 and was due around the time my 2 month year old had gotten a cold. My bill was due on the 16th so I called the 17th. After waiting for an hour to get a hold of a customer representative I had informed them that I had the money but if their was any other way I could make a payment arrangement because I had to take my sick baby to his doctor appointment where I would pay cash, she asked me the necessary questions to proceed and detailed her notes about my situation and how my husband gets paid every Friday so a payment every week would be made on account. After thanking the lady she told me to pay the next Friday and call back for an arrangement, so I did but after calling twice and no answer and long waiting hours I gave up but still made my payment through the automatic system. That was a Friday that following Monday they cut of my electric. After calling and asking why because I had made the payment the supervisor said its because I didn't call and that was the end of it. I asked her if she could cut it back on because of the cold temperatures and my two month year old was sick and I would just pay it all but she said she couldn't and there was nothing else she could do because I did not call. Never again will I be with this company again after being with a company for years and the circumstances they made me feel like I was trying to not pay.

 I signed up in Jan 2014 for 12 months fixed at 7.59 in Ct no problems and very happy with results till MARCH 2014 seems a computer error switch my to 10.5 called on line for 20 minutes before they checked account and verified my 12 month rate promised to send a check in 7 days and so sorry. I know of 2 other ambit
customers who were ripped off but did call in . looks like they did this to many customers CHECK ALL AMBIT BILLS VERY CLOSELY FOR A OVERCHARGE. JL MARCH 2014

Don't bother with Ambit

 I've been a customer for almost one year. They lured me in with their low prices. I have never been late, never missed a payment. A month ago I paid them $200 because I lost my bill. I waited for my next bill to discover I under paid by $54. I made my payment for this next bill, including the $54. They turned off my service anyway. Then charged me around $250 just to have it turned back on. It's 100 degrees outside, in the middle of summer and they are going to turn off my electricity? They will not have my business any more.

Be Careful When Moving

 This is my experience with Ambit -- I had a 12 month contract with them, and a 12 month lease on my apartment. I called and paid what I owe on Dec 17th and was out the door. I asked them to cancel the service (as there were only 3 days left on my contract). Somehow they have no record of me canceling the service, yet gladly took the payment I made on the 17th over the phone. 5 Months later, with absolutely no communication (no e-mail, phone call etc) They sent me to collections on a 30 dollar balance that had late fees up to 80 dollars. They had automatically rolled me into a "month to month" plan, even though I had already moved and used zero energy. No one there is willing to help -- I paid the amount. But this is what I'm telling you to do if you use Ambit.

1.) Lawyer up! Just in case they try to pull a fast one on you

2.) If you're moving, make sure they actually close your account, and some random person in their service department doesn't just say they did, when they really didn't.

3.) Don't let them automatically roll you into a month to month

4.) Just because you pay "everything" you owe, doesn't mean there isn't another pending charge they haven't told you about.

Other than that -- I didn't have much issue with the actual energy provided

Never again.

 The billing and customer service departments are nightmares. I had an issue with adding a new checking account. I think what happened is I entered the number incorrectly. I called multiple times and was told my payment was fine. Then I get a call saying it wasn't and that I'll have a fee... even though the gal I talked to couldn't help me fix the problem. I couldn't figure out how to delete or edit the account information and it wouldn't let me add the account because I already had one with that number. so I call customer service and am then told I have a 12 month block that will prevent me from even paying with a checking account at all. The supervisor says there is nothing they can do about it. My deal is if I couldn't edit the account numbers or even see the account numbers I put in I don't know if they are scamming me or if it was my mistake. I asked what the account and routing numbers were and no one I talked to apparently had the ability or authority to see them... they just knew the payment didn't process... even though I was told everything was fine.

The short version... shady, not helpful, parrot policy customer service because the only thing anyone could say is the exact sentence over and over, and an overall lack of training with their employees. Also, I tried to get help through their Facebook page and they deleted my comment. So now I am looking for every review site so no one has to be as irritated and frustrated and the lack of resolution as I am.

 These ppl rip off customers and they are the worst electric company that I've ever dealt with in my 50 years on this earth. I had to use them while I lived at The Enclave at Hometown apartments, because we were having a home built. I never paid as much monthly as I did with this company in my life. In my opinion and if you have an option, do not go with this company, it's terrible what they do to their customers. And if you try to have issues figured out with the customer service people, don't bother because it's a waste of your time. They don't fix anything and pretend like you are who is wrong.

PLEASE I BEG YOU DO NOT USE AMBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I was only a customer with Ambit for a few months.
1. I paid a half payment for my bill on 8/15/15 because I did not have enough to pay the $108 bill for a 600 square foot apartment using the air conditioner at 80 degrees from 8pm to 8am and I take my laundry to a washateria.
2. I received a voicemail on Saturday 8/29/15 that my bill needed attention..
3. I received another voicemail on Saturday 9/12/15 that my bill need attention.
4. I checked my mail on Sunday 9/13/15 and saw my normal white envelope that was my Ambit billing statement that I threw on the counter to open later.
4. I came home from work Monday, 9/14/15 at around 7:30 p.m. and saw my electricity has been turned off.
5. I called Ambit and their automated system said their business hours are form 8am-6pm central time and that in order to turn my electricity back on I had to pay $309 dollars including a $125 deposit, $40 disconnect fee, $25 reconnect fee and a $53.79 past due payment and all of it had to be paid before I turn my electricity on and NO ONE WAS THERE TO TALK TO WORK OUT A PAYMENT PLAN TO EVEN TURN MY ELECTRICITY BACK ON AFTER 6PM!
6. I called a friend to stay with until the next day.
7. I called Ambit the next day at work and was on hold for 30 minutes before I could talk to a live person.
8. Finally I spoke to Longa and when I asked if would work out a payment plan because I did not have $309 to turn the electricity on she repeated over and over that I had to pay $309 before I can turn on the power and that she did not have the authority to accept a payment plan.
9. I asked to speak to a manager and was on hold for 30 minutes before I hung up.
10. My coworker told me to call Reliant.
11. I called Reliant and they are open 24/7 if my power goes off and they take payment plans if it does, and I said sign me up!
12. My power was on that afternoon! No deposit! No Problem!
MY ELECTRICITY WAS DISCONNECTED FOR JUST A $53.79 PAST DUE BALANCE
A FRIENDS ELECTRICITY WAS DISCONNECTED FOR A 7 CENT PAST DUE BALANCE

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL

 These guys are a bunch of crooks. I set a cancellation date months in advance because I moved out of the apartment. I got verification MULTIPLE times that the once the contract ended that they would automatically cancel the service. Got a huge bill a month after the supposed cancellation date. I called and they claim they have no automatic cancellation and refused to give any kind of explanation or refund. So they essentially told me the new people in my old apartment got a free month on ME.

Absolutely embarrassed that I could get scammed by such a "well known" company, I guess that's why they have contracts and huge early cancellation fees because they know they will provide terrible service and we will be trapped into paying.

RIP OFF

 This is one of the biggest rip-off companies I've ever dealt with. They bill you starting the day you do not pay $10 for a disconnect notice which cost them just a few pennies to send. Then 14 days after you miss one payment you're disconnected they want a deposit and a big reconnection fee. They are just greedy. Most electric companies let you go a full and tire cycle and pay the next due date without any penalty at all which is what I'm used to. Not these scam artists. Oh and did I tell you that they cut my power off in the middle of an ice storm and refuse to turn it on until the next day. I thought there was something against the law that they could even do that at a time where you could freeze to death. I canceled my service will never go back with them. FYI I talked for an hour and 15 minutes to get my $10 fee removed today and it did work you just have to keep complaining and keep asking for somebody else. So do not believe them when they tell you they can't do it. They can you just have to make enough noise. Ambit, you should have listened to me earlier today now you're going to have to listen to everybody else just like me because now they know that they can get their money back if they make enough noise. The way to get their attention is to tell whoever is on the line I'm sorry you do not have the authority to do this but I know someone does so get me somebody with some Authority because apparently you just answer phone calls I need a person with a real job. I finally got someone with a real job and they gave me my $10 back to stop listening to me.

Very misleading

 This company is pitiful!!! I switched to them one month ago and very very much regret it. They were very nice and helpful when I signed up and then their so called customer service was gone. I called them when I received my bill and asked to change my due date until the first of the month when I get paid and was told that could not happen. Then I was told my payment was due on the 30th and on the 31st there was a disconnection letter sent out. In my whole life I have never received a disconnect letter. When I called I asked for a supervisor and got no where. This company is a rip off and will NOT work with you on a problem. STAY AWAY!!!

AVOID THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY

 I got conned into selling Ambit service and was stuck in a contract. I got no notice of my contract expiring and my rate jacked up. I didn't have time to change to a new company and stayed with them another 3 months. I got a disconnect notice for 9/20 for $97. I paid it on 9/19. On 9/23 my power was cut off. I called to ask why and was told that I only had until the 17th to pay it. So 6 days later they cut my power off and now want me to pay a disconnect and reconnect fee. This is a total scam. I have never had a utility company cut off power after they received payment even when it was pending disconnections before.
This is a pyramid scheme. You will not save money in the long run nor will you make money.
I feel like sucker for getting involved

 I do not appreciate getting a late fee for being less than 24 hours late on paying bill. $10.00 is robbery when you are paying basically on time. I also have noticed lately that whatever my light usage is I am paying half that amount in delivery charges... so for a $60.00 usage add $27.00 in delivery fee then and taxes....it is ridiculous....

 When I switched to ambit I thought I was making a smart decision. I was with TXU for years prior and was convinced of Ambit's cheaper rates. Upon doing my research, Ambit wasn't cheaper than TXU, but I decided to go with the free nights plan. It turned out to be a horrible mistake. My bill ended up being much higher than TXU. Calling customer service isn't easy, it takes at least an hour to get to somebody. And my password never worked, no matter how many times I changed it.

They have something called avg usage bill from previous year and that make you feel you are getting less electricity bill but at the end of the service they will send you huge adjustment bill. They keep you in dark about this until you disconnect the service. So unfair and wrong business practice. I would not recommend Ambit Energy to anyone.

 I was with Ambit for over 5 years and never was I ever late. Paid my bill online and one day loan behold my electricity was shut off. No notice whatsoever, said I failed to pay the current bill. No curtsy call checking to see what might have happened. It cost me 125.00 deposit plus like a $140. to get it turned back on. No grace what so ever. My contact expires his month and will not be renewing it. They better return my deposit. This is how they make interest money on your deposit.

 When my contract expired I was expecting an increase, I was not expecting my bill to double. When I got that bill I thought it was a mistake, nope, customer service said since Im out of contract they can charge whatever they want. So I changed service and now I get the bill for the last six days from Ambit and they want more than I was paying a month, no justification, just bill you whatever they want to punish you for switching service.

Worst Experience Ever

 Ambit took money off my card for a deposit before they knew if they could even provide me service. After figuring out they would not be able to provide the service I was told a refund would be issued. It took them less than five minutes to take the $80 off my card but for some reason the refund had to be sent back as a check, it has been a month since the day they claimed to have sent my check out in the mail. Customer service is a joke as well as the supervisors. I would not recommend Ambit to anyone ever. They are by far the most unorganized unprofessional energy company I have ever dealt with.

A happy Ambit customer..

 This is 2018. I've had Ambit electric service since 2011. In all these years, I've never had a billing problem. Like the other companies, Ambit is a billing company. Oncor is the actual provider but I call Ambit if I have a problem. Lightening struck at my house about 4:30 A.M.in Feb, 2018. Among other damage, my transformer was blown so all electricity was out. I called Ambit. Within hours they had Oncor out here and before nightfall, the transformer was replaced. Before signing up with Ambit, I had tried two other electric companies. I had billing issues with both with errors on my account. Since joining Ambit in 2011, I have not had one billing error. I have to be conservative, but my electric bills have been something to brag about. Thus I'm happy with Ambit Service.

One less customer to gouge

 I've been a customer with Ambit for about 2.5 years until today. Back in march I resigned my plan for a fixed rate of 8.3 cents. I typically prepay a fixed amount every 3 months or so so I never actually look at my bill. However in June I got a notice that said my bill was over $300 for the month! When I called to have it corrected they said it was because I was on a variable plan. I was baffled because not only did I enroll in a fixed rate plan online I CALLED TO VERIFY at the time(a call that has mysteriously vanished from their system). The CSR was full of attitude but did a "rerate" for my June bill. And we resubmitted my fixed rate plan (obviously higher than what i initially signed up for but WAY better than 18c). I asked if it would be fixed for July and was told it would. Come July .. ANOTHER $300 bill! Called again and was told it would be corrected but to give them time (until 8/5). Today I called and was told my services were being disconnected and not only do I had to pay the $300 bill but disconnect and reconnect fees as well! When asked what happened to my adjustment I was told I never should have been told I would get one and it's been denied. No warning, no explanation except "the agent should have advised you to pay the initial amount". BUT HE DIDNT HE SAID YOU WOULD FIX IT! I am livid! Leaving this company and i hope they go out of business SOON

 a sales man from Ambit offered me a $ 05 cent per kWh he said the delivery charge will be about $ 0.10 per kWh
but my bill come to $ 185 .44 I all Ambit customer service "RUDE " people spend over ! hr. on the phone to found out that my bill include a charge of $ 146.50 for power delivery and $ 9.95 penalty for using less than 1500 kWh.
I dividing 196 kwh on $ 185.44 that means they are charging me $ 0.946122 per kWh
Where is the 0,05 pre Kwh? my bill suppose to be $ 19.60 at $ 10 cents per kWh
Ambit is offering low cost energy to customers but they don't tell that they make their money over charging customers for delivery.
I called the company that delivery the power and someone told me that Ambit charge just what ever they want for delivery and they have nothing to do with it on other words they make their profit that way.
and recommend me to fight for my money.
The easiest way for me will be cancel the account but they want $ 250 for cancelation .
Stay away from Ambit

Ambit provided a great rate of 9.0 cents per kWh and offered me the opportunity to earn free energy every month if I referred 15 customers. To date, I have received over $7,500 in free energy credit from Ambit. Thank you so much as it allow me to pay off all my credit card debt.

THE WORST ENERGY COMPANY EVER!!

 I have been an Ambit customer since 2015. They're always disconnecting my service without notification. And when they disconnect my service, its usually because of a balance due of $20. Customer Service is not 24 hours and that's even worse, especially if you're reactivating services. You'll just have to wait until Monday. In addition to my services being disconnected, I contacted them because I was curious to why am I still received a bill if my contract ended. I was told that if I were not to call them to disconnect my services, I will still be billed month-to-month. Which is ridiculous because I'm basically paying them for someone else using the electricity. So after speaking with the supervisor, you'd think that they will delete the balance due or at least take care of it. He insisted that I'd pay for it or it will go to a collection agency. THE WORST ENERGY COMPANY EVER!!

My billing is always accurate. I have never had a problem with monthly auto draft. Their pricing is always great. Plus I have referred enough clients that I receive a huge discount off my electricity every month. Most months it is completely waived. My last bill was only $9.10 . Their perks are outstanding.

 I had use this company as my home gas supplier for many years as my friend refered, This month, I received a huge bill for my gas compare with last month, I talked to them and find out I did not call them to renew my energy saving program on time, this program need to renew every 12 months. the BIG problem is if you miss renew, the gas rate is up from $0.29 to $1.06, it is more than 3 times you suppose to pay, especially the renew time is in the most coldest weather, just last month, I OVER PAY $191 for my home gas. I called them to renew the saving program and ask them to adjust my current bill, BUT THEY DO NOT DO IT, I EVEN TALKED TO THE SUPERVISOR, they still do not adjust it. They claim using their company, we can save 1% of GAS, BUT they aks me to pay 300% more just because Iforget to renew my program . I think this company is cheating people. they should charge normal local gas company rate (1% higher) if we forget to renew the program, not 300%, I want to know if any other peopl have same problem with this company and we can complain it to BBB together. We need stop this cheating behavior from this company.

Same Problems Across the Board - Billing, Customer Service, Errors and at YOUR EXPENSE!

 I have been an Ambit customer since 2009. They disconnected my service without notification once when I went to pay online and the transaction did not go through for some reason. I was never notified that there was a problem. When I called them back and tried to explain, they said they are able to see when someone was on their website and they had no record that I was on it the day I told them. I knew the day because I made a note in my checkbook. I told them I definitely was on the website and I would look up my computer history to show them when my electricity came back on. They charged me disconnect fees along with others and required a deposit to turn my electricity back on. After my electricity came back on, my computer history in fact did show that I was on the ambit bill pay site that day. They didn't care. Now, they have screwed up my billing for the past several months. I get one bill that says I owe one amount, or have a credit, and then get a disconnect notice the day after my bill is due, all because of their shoddy billing. It is an absolute joke. I haven't received a correct bill in months. I go to the online area to verify it and it is the same as my incorrect bill. Today, the lady told me to ignore the amount due and just pay the current charges amount from the usage. I told her I expected their math to be right and be able to tell me how much was due on my bill. These people are a special kind of STUPID! I am gone!

 We've had Ambit for almost 2 years and we've had no issues with them. Sure the price went up a bit but we expected that along with higher usage in the summer especially living in Texas. I can see other people have complained but we've had no issues especially since we moved up to the DFW area from South Texas where it wasn't common to "shop" for an energy provider. Ambit will also allow you to pay your bill online for free provided you're paying with your checking/savings account.

 Absolutely the worse energy company! Stay far far away!!! I signed up with them in 2012. They screwed me with my renewal in 2014 so when moving in 2015 I decided to find a new energy company. Although I did call to cancel my service (I was told that it was no worries and that it would be done by a particular date). I'm still being charged and it's just ever so convenient that they have no record of my call to them when I canceled. They will take your money and are truly deceitful. Horrible customer service! Save yourself the stress!!! They are no help!!

Great company, but expensive

 Granted, I live in an older, not very well insulated apartment with one energy efficient major kitchen appliance, but after the TDU fees and all, I pay $135/month on average. I also missed the fine print that you're charged $10 if you use less than 1000 kW, which was the case when I tried to lessen my expenses by turning off everything on surge protectors.

I haven't had any issues requiring me to call customer service, I just attribute the expense to my selecting them as my option and not using the Power To Choose website. I'll soon be moving and changing companies as well. One with no minimum electricity usage.

Not terrible, but could be better

 I was actually a consultant for this company when they first started out. I signed up with them and I have been with them for years. However, I think our relationship is now coming to an end. My bill is suddenly astronomical! Within 2 short months, my bill doubled! I really don't know why! I have looked into my usage, my bills, my plan...nothing makes sense as to my why bill suddenly went from $90ish to just under $200 for an 800sqft. apartment. I think it might have to do with their usage variations, but I guess we shall see. My answer from them is still pending. They're relatively pleasant to speak with and try to be helpful, but if you are looking for a similar bill amount each month, this would not be my pick. Plus, their rates have increased, so you can probably find a better-suited provider in your area for less. Good luck!

Are they perfect, no. But neither is any other company. As long as you pay your bills on time and pay attention to your renewal dates, all will be well.

 Ambit really messed my billing for multiple accounts which i have for 2 different rental properties. They disconnected the electric the same day that I called to question a weird, never seen before charge on a bill. When I called day later about the disconnected service, the rep said that she understood what happened and waived the disconnect /reconnect fee. She never sent the order to reconnect service to AEP. The following day electric service was finally restored after my tenant was without electricity for nearly 2 days. Ambit reps could not tell me why the service was disconnected or why the order was never sent for reconnection. HORRIBLE billing & customer service. They couldn't care less if you remain a customer.

 Ambit Energy is a great company if
1. You love a company that can't keep accurate accounting records
2. You love having your ambit account hacked with and having your billing information changed automatically (you automatically get to pay extra for that feature).
3. You love being put on hold for long periods of time with annoying music for customer service
4. You love having simple features such as setting up autopay online not work properly
5. You have total faith that if something can get screwed up will get screwed up with billing
6. You love customer service representatives who play around with your billing information to see if they can make different numbers work better
7. You love waiting extra long periods of time to speak with a managers
8. You don't mind that your Ambit problem won't be solved on the first phone call to customer service
9. You don't mind that Your Ambit problem won't be handled on the 2nd phone call to customer service
10. You're aware that either your credit card number or address will change by the time you've finally ironed out all your current issues with Ambit.

I have never experienced such a poor company to work with. I have now been on my decent to hell with them for more than 2 years. The good rates are not worth the hassle. Yes, Ambit, we will be parting ways.

Changing credit cards for autopay has been a complete nightmare. Their automated system crashes on my account every time I need to change the credit card. I call customer service (wait 20 minutes through their annoying music with their stupid recordings just waiting for the one that says to press a button and they'll call back, but I rarely get that courtesy). Once I get them on the line, they ping my credit card (successfully twice) to make sure it works, then they tell me the credit card doesn't work. I call my credit card company and they tell me that Ambit successfully pinged the account and charge the credit card $0.01 2 times, then the 3rd time, they typed in the wrong 3 CVV code. Don't you think the first correct ping was sufficient!

The best time - was when all had been going well with autopay for 9 months and I get a phone message and an email that my credit card on file is no longer working. What? I go into my records, and they have somehow pulled up an old credit card (that had been deleted from the system 9 months before) and were trying to charge the old credit card. No record of the new credit card. Customer service tells me that their records show that I have been paying with the old credit card for months! I look at my new credit card statements for the previous 9 months and Ambit regularly charged my new credit card!

Do not use this company. Your hair will turn gray, your stomach will ache, you will explode while talking with them.Pay attentions folks, this company will eat your insides.

If you dont then that is your fault not ambits fault.. I will never be anyone elses customer. Thank you Ambit fot all the special perks. I even got to go on a cruise thanks to Ambit Energy. POOR Service and Customer Service

 I foolishly renewed my contract with them and now my bill has nearly DOUBLED in price. They claim energy rates have gone UP since I signed up in July 2013. Sure they have, but not THAT much. Now I feel TRAPPED with a company that can charge me whatever they want. I am a widow and try to live as "Green" as I can. I can't afford to keep paying these rates. They are cutting off my power on the 29th because I don't get paid until the 30th. They wouldn't even bend to give me ONE DAY. I'll NEVER use them again.

When they tell you that they have resolved your issue for calling what they really mean is that they will make crappy notes, not fix your problem and you can expect to call in and relive the experience every month.  current (for 3 years) ambit customer--never checked rates til this winters polar plunge.ambit is charging me some months 2 and one half times the amount the local supplier charges. they claim by the end of the year I will have saved from what national grid charges. in order for that to happen I will have to get some supply portion of my bills free. thay say they will send a check if overcharged. THEY DONT GIVE THEIR RATES LIKE OTHER SUPPLIERS DO THEY JUST SAY THEY WIIL SAVE YOU AND ITS VARIABLE. that's fooey!!! this month april to may national grid was 7cents per kwh-ambit was 16.7centsper kwh and similar bills the last 3/4 months. I guess im getting a big check at the end of the year!!! doubt it!!! I think companies not willing to publish rates are suspect like ambit. the only reason im still with them is I am friends with the consultant. they also lied to me about which plan imsupposed to be in.they wont tell you how much your current savings will be because there is none. I wish I had the time and patience to review my last 3 years of bills I cant trust them anymore and don't think ill continue

 Yes the price of my service has gone up over the past three years, right along with the cost of living, salaries, and medical expenses. I really don't have to think about my service, it's there every time I plug in something and every time I flip a switch. I pay a little closer attention to how many "smart" pieces of electronics we have going and we pay our bill on time. I expect to get paid on time, I'm sure they do too.
I strongly recommend AMBIT ENERGY.

 I'm a new customer to ambit. I was told they would connected next day with "expedited" service and a fee, but still no service. I was told one thing and they come out with another. I asked for my small deposit back, that they withdrew from my account in one day, and they can't refund me till 20-30 days via us parcel service. I even gave them a chance and asked if they could some how get service turned on the day I wanted to cancel and even at that , they couldn't do. Customer
Service places you on hold for a long time and when they do answer they place u on hold again. What kind of training or call center is so poor! Wow! Very disappointed and that's because I was referred by a friend who works for the company. I will not support or recommend ambit. Bad service from the start. I will be taking this a step up an contacting the CEO and others at the top. Exploiting this company and it's misleading reps is what this company needs. Social media goes a long way. My only problem is that rates keep increasing. I started off with 8cents and now its 10cents. Also they have a 9.99 charge each month if you use under 1000kw. I like the reward packeages also in which u get free hotel nights.

What a program, a low fixed rate, travel rewards and other perks until you get to the point of getting FREE Energy - Where have you been all my life Ambit Energy !!  I've been sucked into some kind of crazy cycle because I was late on my bill. They are now disconnecting my power every two weeks.(no exaggeration) They've switched my plans twice without me knowing and doubled my rates. Both times I didn't find out until my bill doubled.  The company is ridiculous! It is very poorly run and has zero customer service. You cannot get through to anyone through their 800 customer service number. I have multiple rental homes with them plus had my primary residence just because I knew account representative in a prior job. When I moved from my primary residence I paid my last bill and moved on. Evidently there was a small balance left on the last bill of which I was unaware. They evidently mailed it to the former home where the service was discontinued and of course it was kicked back to them. Not sure why they couldnt see the other rental residences mailing addresses and mail it there. What do you think they did in this instance? Maybe youre thinking an email message or a phone call informing me that there was a small balance. Of course not, they dinged my credit with a collection within 60 days of moving out! I buy rental homes and use my credit extensively for my business so this is serious problem for me. It dropped my score by 100 points costing my thousands in extra financing fees. You may ask yourself what kind of idiotic company reports THEIR OWN CURRENT CUSTOMERS to the credit agencies with derogatory information without even a minimum attempt to collect it. AMBIT ENERGY does! That is a really creative way to keep customers. I love their long term business plan. After multiple drawn out attempts to contact them and pay the amount they informed me that they cannot remove the collection off my credit report. I still not sure why an crappy energy company has the right to ding a credit report when NO money was borrowed or credit extended. I will be telling everyone that will listen about my experience with AMBIT. STAY AWAY, there are too may good choices with well-run companies to mess with these amateurs!

They do not care about their customers, they are rude to their customers, you will see a lot of fraudulent charges on your bill and you are wrong for questioning them. You will be dropped from your low kwph rate at any given moment, for any given reason, even if you are under contract. Your monthly bill will quadruple even when you're out of town! RUN!!!

Keep looking....

 I had Ambit for a little over a year. When I opened the account with them, there was a long wait on the phone. I also had to call back because their system was down. This shoudve been a sign. Anyways, a few weeks later, I realized that the guard light near our house was disconnected. So, I called them again to have the guard light reconnected to our account. This, again, involved multiple calls because they could not figure out ESID for that guard light (although the previous house tenant was using them too!). Unfortunately, I had to call them again a few weeks later because some tree branches were getting close to our power lines. Again, this involved multiple calls. Ambit (and Oncor) gave me different stories on who is responsible. For a while, I didnt have a reason to call them since I was paying my bill and I did not need anything from them. Until, I had to disconnect. I was already un-happy that I had to pay double because my contract had already expired and I couldnt get the "good" rate unless I go under contract with them. But, I accepted and moved on as this is "business as usual" for companies like Ambit. WHen I called to disconnect, it was fairly straightforward. Until I got another bill for the guard light. Apparently, I did not tell them to disconnect that although I cancelled my account. Because of this, I was still charged for a line that is part of a closed account. I am still working with Ambit on getting a refund for this but its not looking good. Stay away from Ambit.

I am blown away by horrible lack of customer service and these POSITIVE reviews!!

 I moved from another state and signed up for ambit bc my my apt complex has some deal with them. First off, if people are really here to simply rate ambit for great customer service, why are you you blasting on people who forget to pay one of their "most important bills"? It seems to me that you "happy customers" have have something invested in this horrid company or you would simply rate it without belittling others who aren't perfect like you and who DO have "everyday problems" which most service providers tend to want to work with because they, unlike ambit DO have good customer service. Secondly, ambit advertises as if they are the "best customer service" out there except they are not, according to their many many complaints which range from not even turned on yet to years of customer loyalty thanked by skyrocketing prices. This company is obviously set to make it impossible to pay on time unless you sign up for them to have access to your bank account and who wants to do that when there are so many complaints of overbilling based on assumptions that benefit the company at customer expense. Furthermore, you "satisfied customer" ambit zealots, it is against the LAW for them not to notify a customer of a disconnect. However, ambit doesn't care because they WANT to disconnect you so that they can charge outrageous kw hours to the hard working people who live paycheck to paycheck (unlike the overpaid corporate zealot hand slapping ambit happy customer fat cats full of self righteous indignation posting here). Ambit traps people in contracts with high penalties and then blamed their customer base up to the man in the moon for what they are sorely lacking in every department. Ambit was founded in tx and lobbies tx and is in every way degenerate with big business mafia type tactics. I will do everything I can not to pay my contract fee bc dang it they charge ridiculous amounts. I am paying twice what I should for a 900 sq ft apartment. They tie in with apts so together they and the apt can screw you with late fees but by law they cannot screw you with late fees while you have filed a complaint disagreement with their charges. Even if I end up paying the godawful fee to this lying lying illegitimate customer service thieving company I consider it good riddance and I will will continue to tell everyone to RUN NOT WALK from this company. Please someone down here explain to these happy customer ambit zealots what SCAM means! Obviously the meaning of customer service and the scam of overpromise underdeliver escapes them.

Mine was a wreck and had my back broken, out of work and it was of no fault of mine. They did not care that i was a consultant and in a tight time , there was no help from them or care just cut off the electricity. Got it back on and the bills come late so the charge late fees and threaten you with cut off. Do not recommend them to any one.

Can't believe it!

 I have been with Ambit Energy for going on three years now... Never really have had any issues with my billing never really any issues at all. Until, I had to call and speak with customer service. Apparently my energy usage was switched to another provide (direct energy) and this happen by someone accidently giving them my apartment #.( I understand things happen) However, I was being charged rates at a much hight rate, but by DE, but another compay, that my apartment complex uses. Ok, it was a big mess, but I was more then patient with Ambit to send in a workorder and regain me as a customer... WE ARE TALKING THREE MONTHS WENT BY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cases were put in and the canceled one after another.. Called to check status and was told they would just put in a new one.. But, then again that would get cancelled. Told to call my and ask for higher up guy and then was told he doesn't talk to customers over the phone????? I was begging for someone to help me with my problem. (almost in tears people) No one could tell me anything as to why they couldn't regain me as a customer... I wasn't even looking for another provider and they couldn't get their input right to regain me! Then the lady I last spoke to told me to have a good weekend? What? Now, I'm stuck with paying higher rate for another electric com, fees from apt office, fees to cancel with ambit, fees to start up with new com. I have never been more disappointed and really when a company is making so much money and keeping your customers isn't an issue, that is a problem. I wouldn't recommend this company to my EX-husband or my worst enemy!!

Early cut-offs, and unhelpful Customer service.

 Nearly 3 hours of phone tag with Ambit Energy's customer service, and I FINALLY get someone to talk to me about my account.

Long story short, and error on THEIR part, made my bill having to be paid today, for an additional 80+$. (Disconnect, reconnect, service etc)

I very politely explained, either they fix their mistake, or they will lose a customer. The turtle-shy women says, "There is nothing I can do.Let me put you on hold, so I may speak to a supervisor."

5 minutes more go by, she comes back on and says, "I am sorry, at this time we are unable to assist you. If you cannot pay the entire balance, including the disconnect fees, service charges, and reinstatement fees, we are unable to assist you in any way."

So, I somewhat frustratingly ask, "So, you turn my electricity off early, and I get to pay extra, or I have no electricity? Am I to understand this?"

Turtle shy lady, "Again, we are unable to assist you in this matter. Please pay the remaining balance and all fees in order to reinstate your energy with us."

I then explain, "Ma'am, I have been with Ambit nearly 2 years, I do not wish to change companies, but if you cannot take back your own mistake, you will lose a customer."

Turtle lady, "I am sorry, at this time we are unable to assist you. If you cannot pay the entire balance, including the disconnect fees, service charges, and reinstatement fees, we are unable to assist you in any way. Do you have anymore questions?"

I had a few, but she was useless, so I say, "Nope, that's all I needed to hear."

So, after having my electric off for 4 hours today, over half of which dealing with the AMbit that caused it, I switched to a new energy company, that not only agreed to turn on today for no extra cost after explaining what I just dealt with, They turned it on less than 5 minutes after hanging up the phone with them.

My house is now powered by 100% wind energy. 100% renewable resource, and such great customer service by Breeze Energy.

Honest reliable provider

 I have been a Ambit Electric and Gas customer for since January 2012 1 1/2 + years .
I have never had a billing or service issue only savings . In addition to that when my rep called my LOWER my rate yes I said LOWER I checked my travel reward points and now qualify for a family vacation.
I now am refering others for my free energy credit like my consultant has recommended .

 Have been a 3 year customer of Ambit Energy. During the recent rains (July 15-16, 2013) my power went out at my home in NE Dallas. I was able to contact my Ambit Energy consultant directly with my problem. She was then able to contact her customer service department to coordinate the actions with Oncor to review the issues with the line coming to my house. My power came back on within 12 hours. I'm very happy with Ambit Energy!!!

Ambit is Extremely Unethical

 I had been an Ambit Energy customer for 1 year and paid my bill every month.

Account was due for renewal on 6/18/13 and I renewed for a 6 month term.

After my renewal, I did not receive my next bill, which was for an amount of $39.65 and was due on 6/6/13.

Ambit then issued a disconnect notice on 6/17/13, which was mailed on 06/18/13. This noticed stated that the past due balance must be paid by 6/27/13 or the service would be disconnected on 6/28/13. However, due to a delay with mail forwarding, I did not receive this noticed until AFTER the disconnection date.

On 6/28/13, Ambit disconnected my electricity without my knowledge. When I called them, they informed me of the past due amount. I told them that I had never received the notification and that I would be happy to pay the past due amount, but would NOT be willing to pay the inappropriate amount of additional fees since I had never received a bill or disconnection notice. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied. They stated that someone could return my call in 24-48 hours. I told them that I had 2 small children at home and I could not wait 48 hours to turn electricity back on. Again, they refused to assist me further. I told the representative that if I could not speak to a supervisor to get this resolved, I would need to contact another company to get electricity re-established. The representative informed me that I had just signed a new contract with them a few days prior and if I cancelled service, I would incur a $100 fee for breaking the contract. I stated again that I would be happy to pay actual charges for service, but that I was not paying disconnect and contract break fees for an issue that was not my fault. I requested a call back from a supervisor.

On 07/01/13, I contacted Ambit again about the charges because I had not yet heard back from a supervisor. I was told again that they would not remove any charges and that I could not speak to a supervisor. The representative stated that a supervisor would return my call in 24-48 hours.

 They trick you in signing a low rate but the charges come in soon. Forget to pay your bill they will disconnect immediately even if it's Winter and you will pay a re-connection + Your Bill + deposit ($150) then if you miss the deadline twice they screw you.They will keep you on month to month with very high charges and other crazy charges for six months. My bill used to be 70 bucks but it exploded to 160.

Just another money hungry company. Stay away!

 I'm leaving Ambit after 4 years. I have really never had a problem with them, it just all came down to the best they could offer was a 10.4 average and I found a different company for 10.2. I have read sooo many reviews and Ambit has a lot of bad reviews, but so do so many other companies, including the one I'm switching to. If I regret my switch, Ambit I may see you in another year!!

A great company that does everything it says!

 I've been with Ambit for almost a year and they have done everything they said they would. I have a great rate!! While surfing the web, I was disturbed to see the people leaving bad ratings on this website - as I read them, I noticed almost all of them were people that paid their bill late!! I was told when I signed up that Ambit did not tolerate late bill payers and that if you continued to pay late, they would cut you off and ask you to go somewhere else, that is how they keep their rates lower than everyone else. They even give you a discount for doing autopay. Excellent company! Great service!

 Hi, my fellow consumers why would I have to pay 80 to 100 dollars a month for electricity I hardly ever use in the first place with a contract of course first bill pretty low 24 dollars but then sky rocketed too high. My apartment is pretty small 600 sq ft. When I cancelled the last bill was 108 I had to force them to split my bill in half. Customer service was mean the Rep said to me that he also has financial problems I was like " I dont really care has nothing to do with my bill " what can you do for me! ? thats my question SIR. My recomendation to all don't do contracts with no electricity providers try them first.

When you ask for a refund, they will say OK, your money has been refunded then "forget" to send it. No proof of conversation. No email confirmation for refunds.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & BILLING SUCKS!

 I'm a very busy mom in the family, so when it comes to bills, I pay whatever that comes in the mail- that means I don't keep track of what I did and did not pay yet. So when my energy was cut off one day, I called Ambit energy up. HORRIBLE customer service hours, because they closed at 7pm, the time I came back from work! So my family had to spend a cold night until 11am when their lines opened up! They couldn't DO JACK! I asked the service lady if she could open up the energy and I'll pay the fees (because it was my fault that time), but she said I couldn't do anything because apparently, they don't put back the energy on. What's worse, since it was Saturday, I had to wait until MONDAY to have my electricity put back on. So the next month came and my energy went out AGAIN. I became suspicious so I checked my checkbook, and no checks paid for Ambit-that means, their bill never came into my mail (and trust me, I pay all my bills on time as long as they come through the mail). I called them up and asked why the fuck did they never send me a bill. They checked my address and everything and said nothings wrong with it. Well then why the fuck have I not been getting any mail? They replied, "you're going to have to check with your local post office to see the problem". FUCK! Nobody has time for that, plus all my other bills are coming through nicely,except for this one. I WAS SO FURIOUS! They couldn't do shit. They also didn't had the decency to at least WARN me that i have not paid my bill yet before they cut off the damn electricity. WORST COMPANY EVER!

 We were out of town and when I noticed we hadn't paid our bill yet, I proceeded to call to pay my bill but was told that because I was paying the full amount a day late, that there was still a possibility that I would get shut off two days later. There was no guarantee that I would still have power even after I threw my money at them. They were unhelpful, rude and unconcerned and didn't take any steps to ensure that I wouldn't get shut off, but they definitely took my money. They also lied saying that they left a voicemail about our bill. I am constantly on my phone doing business calls so I have to check every voicemail I recieve. I did not get any missed calls from them let alone a voicemail. They did say the correct phone number when they told me where they left the message but it left a really bad taste in my mouth when they lied to me.

 I switched from Ambit due to their horrible customer service, the purposely confusing bills, and their blatant theft. They doubled my rate and forced me to pay a $125 deposit because I was late. I understand that they are a business, however if I send you $400 and still have a balance of $37 do not disconnect me, and then force me to pay all of the increases. Their representatives are disgusting, the supervisors are even worse. I spoke with one, and then asked to speak to her supervisor she stated that she did not have one. I asked if she owned the company and she said yes and hung up. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Their customer service can be better, but overall, the money I save on my bills overshadows the less then professional customer service line. Whenever its time to renew my contract, I always gets something in the mail from Ambit. Also, if you created an online account, its actually listed there when its time tor renew. Where there is a huge issue is the customer service. Since joining..I have called in to customer service 4 times for various non-critical issues. I have NEVER spoken to anyone. I always call during working hours. The recording always says 'we are very busy..you are next in line"..then plays horrible music over and over again. Each call last, on average 45 minutes. Waiting waiting and waiting. If you want to get your blood pressure up, have the need to get frustrated or yell..I would recommend calling Ambit Energy "customer service". What a JOKE.

 I have had Ambit now for 6 months. Energy bills have definitely been lower, even with fees. I have no doubt some on this blog have legitimate issues. But you might consider that every power provider has a list of websites and blogs "hate-mailing" them. Business takes risks, and as a small business owner myself, even when you go out of your way to do right by your customers, sometimes issues come up in the system. I am always sorry when I have a customer that has been wronged. Frankly, there are some customers that I have tried to make right the problem but seriously asked for unreasonable accommodations. I know many of us are struggling. But honestly, many of these complaints sound like everyday life experiences.

Customer service is truly a total joke.(expect hold times for at LEAST 20 minutes anytime of the day or evening). Disconnected service "accidently" and demanded a $125 deposit to turn back on (which they returned a month later). Bill is impossible to figure out but not worth the 20 minute hold time anymore to ask for clarification.

 I recently signed up with AMBIT Energy after moving to Round Rock TX. My business involves travelling and for some reason my first 48 dollar bill slipped off my mind, just for these goons to turn off my power. To make matters worse, they charged me disconnection/reconnection fees that amounted to 115 dollars. To add insult to injury, my kids spent the night in a winter cold apartment! My daughter noticed the power outage and called me on my cell phone to notify me. When I called the customer care they declined to restore my power and hung up on me! I bet TXU is more professional.

 Be warned: if your plan expires, expect your bill to be higher than TXU Energy (Oncor). I was in the process of moving out of my home right before my plan was about to expire so I did not renew. Ambit took advantage of that window of time and I ended up with a $400 electric bill for one month because they jacked up the price per KWH. When you ask them about it, expect to hear excuses such as needing to renew your plan and lock in, volatile energy markets, blah blah blah...none of which is believable considering their price was higher than TXU Energy's (Oncor) price to beat.

Also one last thing, Ambit requests large deposits--even if you have good credit.

Their rates are higher and you cannot trust them,Tthey will cheat you. I was gone for two weeks in November to California. I shut my apartment down. The Ambit bill was 50% higher for the two weeks I was here than any month before or since. Their explanation is the Christmas lights I am running. The problem? I don't run Christmas lights, no tree, no wreath, nothing. I think they spun the meter. No proof, but no other explanation.

MY SERVICE WAS DISCONNECTED WITH NO NOTICE SO I TRIED CALLING THIS MORNING AND EITHER IT WOULD RING ONCE AND THE MESSAGE I WOULD GET SAID "PLEASE HOLD" AND THEN IT WOULD HANG UP OR I WOULD GET THE AUTOMATED SERVICE AND FOLLOW ALL THE PROMPTS AND IT WOULD EITHER DO NOTHING OR HAVE ME ON HOLD FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN HANG UP. FINALLY 3 HOURS LATER WHEN THE AUTOMATED MESSAGE CAME ON I DID NOT FOLLOW THE PROMPTS AND JUST SAT ON THE LINE EVEN AFTER THE MESSAGE WOULD REPEAT THE PROMPTS AND IT EVENTUALLY CONNECTED ME TO A REPRESENTATIVE WHO WAS ALREADY IN A HORRIBLE MOOD AND BASICALLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND COULD NOT EVEN GIVE ME A WINDOW AS TO WHEN MY ELECTRICITY WOULD BE TURNED BACK ON. Deceptive Trade Practices

 I attempted to pay an Ambit electric bill in full via the automated phone service which is virtually non existant. This attempt went on for days...I received the " you've experienced larger than high volume calling whatever and whatever. My phone records will prove that numerous attempts were made within the proper time allowed to pay to pay the electric bill. I wentt online and paid the bill in full. Still was unsure that the billing was posted, I made one last attempt to call Ambit to let them know that I had paid the bill. Stephanie, the only supervisor on staff, informed me that my electricity was going to be disconnected regardless... because, I had not paid the disconnect fee. I expained to her that my electricity had not been disconnected and was paid in full. She informed me that the only way to ensure that my electricity was going to continue was to pay the disconnect fee. So you can see that Pete and Repete were on a long... Pete fell of and who was left....Repeat, exactly. Is there an attorney that will take on a class action law suit against AMBIT energy for deceptive trade practices?????

 I received a call today 09/22/12 from a CS rep..She stated the call in regards to an over charge on my bill. I noticed my bill had been twice as high for the last couple of months so I asked about my rate. I was told my rate had been increased to 17.6 cents/ klw. I asked to change the rate and I was told that it couldn't be changed foR six months due to a previous disconnect that mindyou implied! over a fifty dollar reconnect charge..I LIVE IN A TWO BEDROOM APARTMENT AND MY BILL HAS BEEN OVER $400.00 For the last 4 months.BASICALLY THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY WISE CONSUMER BE WARE...

Just Say NO!

 After being slammed by EnTrust energy, Ambit charged me a $199 "early termination fee." I called Ambit, Entrust Energy, and the PUCT and got everything straightened out EXCEPT Ambit's termination fee... they literally told me that the money was there's and it would be used toward future invoices... what am I, Ambit's loan service? I've been with Ambit since 2005 and this is how they show respect for a customer! I noticed a few attempts to boost Ambit's ratings by there consultant zombies giving good ratings, if you go to Ambit's Facebook site and try to post even a slightly negative comment, you'll be band, I think the same should be done here! I posted a copy of the PUCT's complaint I filed where Ambit was chastised for not taking care of business within the 21 days allotted and it was removed within hours of my post on a Saturday, Labor day weekend!

Good company, good people

 We signed with Ambit about six months ago after being with TXU for many years. Our bill dropped 30% and the service has been great. The consultant that signed us up has contacted us sinced we signed up checking to see if we had any problems and providing information on how we could actually get free energy with the company. I have nothing but praise for the company and would recommend them highly.

 Bill was due 20 , 21 its off .... have plenty of money in my bank account ... set up the plan were it comes automatically out of my account 3 diffrent times i don't feel comfortable giving my social and card number and a hour of info for no reason.... Why still after setting itUP THREE TIMES IS IT STILL NOT SET UP what are u doing with my info i feel unsafe if i wasnt going to leave for the navy i would cancel my service whit ambit energy and get a electric company that didnt dick around with my money i am having to sit in my car after work its 12:09 am to charge my phone . I go into work at noon till this time or later so its not easy to call in the time frame they are open ... i didnt pay so much of a deposit to deal with this people ask me who i use i quickly say i use ambit they are the worst they take ur info social card number everything i dont know what they do with it but they deffantly dont do what they say i feel unsafe like i am talking to criminals, not only that but everytjme i talk to someone after my hour of holding they are rude and they seem like they have no idea what they are doing probly why this will be my forth time setting it up i hate how incompetent these people are now im stuck with power off and a full fridge of food... Because they are to lazy or whatever to set up what i keep think they are doing they are waisting my time and money if anyone is thinking about doing this dont do it not only that but my bill is over a hundrend i have a one bedroom down stairs and im probly home a total of 8_9 hours a day thats just when i sleep i work everyday for anywhere from 6 to 12 hours a day .... robbing me yes i think so

How is it legal to perform such predatory business practices!

 I am beyond livid with this horrible company! I have been with Ambit for 4 years. I've always been unpleased with their performance and have been couting down the days until my lease is up and I can finally wash my hands of these theives. ( I can't afford to pay another deposit and connection fees if I went with a new company right now so I've been waiting to move to start over fresh). I have renewed my contract 7 times since joining however the last renewal I had filled out never went into effect. My bill dropped in price per KW so I never reaized that my Lone Star 6 month plan was replaced with the variable. Ambit never sent me any notifications and after 3 months of low affordable bills, my price per KW doubled! I am now paying 182.56 for a one bedroom studio apartment! I am a student and have been very aware of my energy conservation due to my budget. After calling and speaking with 2 customer service reps they both conclude that no one will do anything for me and that i just need to resign my contract for a fixed rate. I then asked to speak with someone higher and was told no one could change my bill. Reluctantly I didnt have another option at the time so once again I signed up for another 6 month term and to confirm my suspisions, I was not given any sort of confirmation of my renewal. So its pretty much their word against mine. Such a dissapointment to be a loyal customer for so long just to be sh*t on by these people. Not to mention the frustration I have for all the "miscellanious" fees that are tacked onto my account each month. RUN FAR AWAY from Ambit energy.

Ambit will still your money with out them working for it.

 I understand that now in days they energy companies should charge for disconnection, but when they actually disconnect your service not just because they send a order in the computer. In the old times you could understand it because it was not just enter in the computer they had to come to you house. Now in day all they have to do is put cancel in the system, and if you ask them if they can give you one more day like the day they will send the disconnection day they will tell you NO. Because they want to charge $55. + $15 of disconnection on that day. That is Ambit energy. They suck

The Ambit Energy Getaway is a Lie!!!!

 They supposedly offer you a 2 night stay at a place of your choice so that you can join and get other people to join. The service that they use "grand incentives" says it can only be a midweek stay!!! It doesn't say that anywhere in the terms and conditions. When I called grand incentives, they said that the only place you can get 2 days hotel on the weekend is in Florida but when I go to Florida, I book package deals, so I don't need the hotel stay there...
It is a worthless deal but no wonder they push you to sign a contract!!
